Lindsey Lafferman

Thunder Director and Coach

Lindsay Lafferman shares the dual role and responsibility as director of Jersey Thunder Girls Lacrosse and PA Thunder Girls Lacrosse.  She is also head coach of varsity girls lacrosse at Morristown Beard School.  Coach Lafferman helped MBS earn the Independence White Division conference title in 2025 and was recognized as "Coach of the Year" in the Independence Division.  

Prior to joining the Morristown Beard coaching staff, Coach Lafferman began the program at Pequannock High School back in 2006 and for seventeen years Coach Lafferman built that program from the foundation as the head varsity coach.  She accumulated over 100 career wins, won three conference titles, the conference sportsmanship award and helped numerous athletes achieve their goal of playing at the collegiate level.  Along with coaching at Pequannock High School, Coach Lafferman had the privilege of  previously coaching the New Jersey North Schoolgirls team at the US Lacrosse National Schoolgirls tournament for many years prior to 2016.  Coach Lafferman is also the director of the Lax On summer program for youth players and the director of the Lax On college summer league.  In addition to coaching year round Coach Lafferman, teaches Math in grades 5 and 6 in the Little Falls School District. 

Coach Lafferman earned her B.S. degree from York College of Pennsylvania and a master's degree in Education from Millersville University. She currently resides in East Hanover with her husband and twin daughters.   

Sami Cherenson

Coach PA Thunder

Sami joined the Moravian University women’s lacrosse staff as an assistant coach in August 2022 following a successful four-year playing career with the Greyhounds. In addition to her collegiate coaching experience, Sami has been coaching with Jersey Thunder and Lax On camps since 2018, where she has helped young athletes develop their skills, confidence, and love for the game.

Outside of lacrosse, Sami is a kindergarten teacher, bringing the same patience, energy, and ability to connect with young people into her coaching. She is a dedicated educator, knowledgeable coach, and strong mentor who is passionate about helping players grow both on and off the field.

Isabella Caporuscio

Coach PA Thunder

Bella brings an outstanding lacrosse background and a deep connection to the Thunder program to the coaching staff. A native of Pennsylvania, Bella played high school lacrosse at Crestwood, where she developed into one of the top players in the region. She also grew up playing for Thunder girls’ club lacrosse, beginning with the program in third grade and continuing through her youth and high school playing career.

Bella currently competes at an elite level as a midfielder at Stony Brook University. During her collegiate career, she has earned recognition as a two-time All-American, back-to-back CAA Midfielder of the Year, and was recently named to the Tewaaraton Top 25 nominee list, honoring the top players in college lacrosse.

After years of growing up in the Thunder program, Bella returned as a coach with PA Thunder in the summer of 2024. She brings a wealth of playing experience, high-level knowledge, and a strong passion for helping young athletes develop their skills and confidence. Bella is an excellent role model for PA Thunder players, showing them what is possible through hard work, commitment, and a love for the game.

Kayla Graef

PA Thunder Goalie’s Coach

Kayla serves as a goalie coach with PA Thunder, bringing recent collegiate playing experience and a strong understanding of the position to the coaching staff. A recent graduate of Moravian University, Kayla was a standout goalkeeper for the Greyhounds, starting all 18 games during the 2025 season and recording 118 saves over 829 minutes of action. In 2024, she started 17 of 18 games, totaling 128 saves and helping lead the team from the cage.

Kayla began coaching with PA Thunder in the summer of 2024 and has quickly become a valuable resource for developing goalies in the program. Her coaching focuses on strong fundamentals, confidence, communication, and helping players understand the mental side of the goalie position.

In addition to coaching, Kayla now teaches special education in New Jersey. Her background as both an educator and collegiate athlete allows her to connect with players, teach the game effectively, and support young athletes as they grow both on and off the field.

Pat Shea

Thunder Director, Coach PA Thunder

Pat joined the Moravian University men’s lacrosse program in the fall of 2022 as an assistant coach, serving as the team’s defensive coordinator and face-off coach. Shea brought collegiate coaching experience with him after being named to the Lafayette College men’s lacrosse staff in August 2021, where he coached the Leopards’ face-off unit to its highest win percentage in five seasons.

Prior to coaching at the collegiate level, Shea had successful head coaching stops at Sparta High School and Hackettstown High School in New Jersey. During that time, he was named Coach of the Year by both NJ.com and the New Jersey Herald in 2018 and 2019. Over four seasons as a high school head coach, Shea compiled 43 wins and led his teams to the state playoffs each year.

Shea attended Belmont Abbey College, where he served as captain of the institution’s inaugural men’s lacrosse program. In addition to his college and high school coaching experience, Shea founded the Jersey Thunder West club lacrosse program and the PA Thunder girls’ youth lacrosse program. He continues to coach with Thunder, helping develop young athletes through strong fundamentals, competitive growth, and a passion for the game.

Coach Shea has a Master’s degree in special education from Moravian University and teaches in the Parkland School District. He lives in the Lehigh Valley with his wife Jillian and daughter Evelyn.
